About

I’m Alissa, a new mom to Sam, whose eyelashes are like starlight. He squints his eyes when he smiles, a trait he inherited from his daddy, my husband Tim. We met in 11th grade English, when we were assigned to a group project together and he failed to complete the tasks I delegated  to him (read: bossed around). I was less than pleased. Eventually, though, I decided he maybe wasn’t so bad after all, and we became friends. But I never would have guessed that I would wind up married to him!

We live in a house somewhere between the sticks and the big city, where we are striving to keep the main thing the main thing.

I have lots of opinions, and will tell them to anyone who will listen.

I’m saved but can act lost (see previous statement).

I gave birth to a 9 lb 4 oz 22.5 inch baby boy completely naturally, in an out-of-hospital birth. It was the hardest, most wonderful thing I have ever done. I can draw strength from it again and again.

I am a strong supporter of breastfeeding, and a member of La Leche League. I try to be nice about it (see acting lost statement). But, I have pretty strong opinions about the lack of support in this country from breastfeeding moms, and usually wind up stepping on a few toes here and there. If yours get squashed, allow me to apologize ahead of time. I’m working on it.

We co-sleep. We didn’t intend to from the beginning, but it just worked out that way. And now we’re addicted. There is nothing better than waking up next to a smiling baby!

Feel free to contact me with any questions…happy reading! 🙂
